As the July, 31, 2011 MLB trade deadline draws near, some players have already been dealt while others remain in the balance awaiting to see where they will end up. Still, a few things are certain, which seem to be influencing the way things will ultimately shape up: 1) the Cubs, the Mets and the Dodgers are in need of trades, but can’t easily move players because of payroll issues; 2) the teams in NL Central are in a fierce battle with the Pirates, Brewers, Cardinals and Reds all within 4 games of first place, so look for the major moves to come to these teams.

Who’s been dealt so far? Well, there were some lesser moves in Jeff Keppinger who went form the Astros to the Giants and Wilson Betemit who went from KC to the Tigers. As for major trades, we saw Francisco Rodriguez go from the Mets to the Brewers, Juan Rivera go from the Jays to the Dodgers, and of course, there will be more to come. So, the question remains, “Who’s on the move?” Well, the major players that could be dealt include Colorado’s Ubaldo Jimenez, the Mets’ Carlos Beltran, the Rays’ BJ Upton, and the Twins’ Michael Cuddyer among many others.

But we’ll just have to wait and see…
